What a busy February this has been! We are so happy with how all the projects related to fashion and market week went and are slowly catching our breaths.
A very exciting (and musically ambitious) project we worked on was with Brand Assembly, a fashion incubator for emerging designers that also hosts trade shows three times a year. For New York Fashion Week, Brand Assembly brought together six of the designers on its impressive roster to help them show their Fall 2015 collections in a set of presentations that took place on February 12th at YouTube Studios NY. The six designers- Maria Dora, C Keller, Caroline Constas, Nikki Chasin, Michelle Kim, and Hunter Bell- were able to present their newest collections with a full arsenal of hair (by Frederic Fekkai) and make-up, as well as a custom two hour soundtrack by Drum & Lace. We composed ambient electronic pieces that would lend themselves to the six designers overall and that would maintain an upbeat and interesting vibe throughout the space. See some photos as shared on social media below (more photos and video to come!).
When we were asked if we'd be interested in managing the music for an event featuring some of our favorite emerging designers we happily accepted! These brands - The Palatines, Osei Duro, Imago-A, Giu Giu, Mondo Mondo, Better Late Than Never Jewelry, Pari Desai, & Cold Picnic - decided to join forces for New York Market Week to run their own showroom in which to host buyers and press to showcase their Fall/Winter 2015 collections.. The showroom reception took place on February 19th, and on top of a Drum & Lace DJ-set, we also invited our friend Genghis Hans to join us with a half hour long live set to round out the three hour long celebration.
Last, but definitely not least, we worked with our frequent collaborator and friends over at SmartGlamour and created a custom track for their biggest runway show to date that took place on February 20th in the Lower East Side. (Video to be posted soon!).
We also had time to meet with a handful of wonderful brands and attend a few presentations, all while trying to stay warm in the arctic-like temperatures in New York. Follow our instagram account (@drumandlace) to see some snaps of all that we were up to!
Needless to say, we are ready to take a breather but are absolutely thrilled to have been able to work with all these brands and designers. Cheers to a great Fashion February, and to many more!
